Rumsfeld Shows His Complete Misunderstanding Of Democracy

"'We have arrived at a strange time in this country where the worst about America and our military seems to be so quickly taken as truth by the press and reported and spread around the world, often with little context and little scrutiny, let alone correction or accountability after the fact,' he said.

Rumsfeld's media critique in a speech at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies was the latest salvo in an effort by the Bush administration to turn around eroding public support for the war.

In a question and answer session with students and faculty, Rumsfeld acknowledged that the war has not gone as planned and that the insurgency was larger than expected."

See, what the Administration does understand is that when they expend so much energy trying to make a shit-lined shoe look like a crystal goblet, the inclination is to show how they're lying about it. Further, this treatment from the press is something that the Bush Administration isn't used to: investigative reporting.

Bush & Co. are so accustomed to setting the terms of engagement and doling out the facts (and lies) at their leisure, without any accountablility whatsoever that they're naturally in shock when someone has found fault with them. Bush & Co. (and virtually all republicans, for that matter) are incapable of working in a critical thinking environment where people don't agree with them. They must have total control of everything, up to and including your minds.

Liberal ideology and it's basis are that of co-existence with different opinions and beliefs. Now we're seeing that there are many things in today's world that are incompatible with democracy: islamofascism, russian democracy, and the latest is the GOP leadership.
